In the first meeting, the designer will visit you at your home or project site to discuss your what you would like to want to have or achieve with the space/s. During this hour long brainstorming session, we explore various design styles, flow,  ideas and material options together before finalising on a design brief to work from.

Having a copy of a scaled layout plan(from your Architect/Builder) handy during the meeting can definitely expedite the design consultation as we can go into more in depth and quality advice.

Also if you have pictures from magazines or books showing a design style and the type of furnishings you like please bring them along.
Payment: On completion of consultation – Cheque or Cash.

A quote for the cost of the full design package will be forwarded by email usually within 48hrs of the initial meeting. This usually ranges from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand (Including Notes and Rough Concept Plan) depending on your requirements and the size of your project.

After the initial meeting, we can provide a sketched concept plan with notes and recommendations on where the focal walls can be and where the major pieces of furniture are to sit. At this design concept stage you will have an overall idea of how your interiors could be laid out, the general decor style, with some indications of colours and materials.

Once you are happy with the proposed design above, we draw up a scaled furniture layout plan addressing the spatial requirements and flow of the space. In almost all cases, you will probably have a scaled Architectural Plan tucked away somewhere which we can use to develop our layout.  This will certainly help to reduce the drawing costs involved otherwise a comprehensive interior measure-up and survey maybe required. From this layout we develop the necessary elevations and also draw up junction details for construction purposes. Sometimes spot details are drawn when a certain design may needs more elucidation.

This layout can be completed within 1 to 2 weeks of receiving the scaled layout and be collected from my office. A delivery charge of $30 is charged if the design package is dropped off to you.

Payment: On collection of concept – Cheque or Cash

The Interior design package can include:

• Plan drawings at 1:100 scale (or larger) depending on area concern
• Furniture Layout Plan showing the funiture and other pertinent information
• Interior elevations and sectional elevation/s
• Junction and Spot Construction Details
• Lighting & Electrial Layout (Optional)
• Recommendations and specifications for interior finishes proposed and selected
• Material board/s
• Coloured rendering/s or sketche/s
• Construction drawings where and when requested

After the plan is finalised, it is ready to be collected at our office. We can also facilitate quotations by the installing contractor/builder.

Payment: 50% Mobilisation fee to kick off the project and the balance on completion/collection of deliverables – Cheque or Cash

The design drawings can be used for general submission to your local council to show Design Intent though Architect and/or structural engineers approval and drawings may also be required for structural elements like retaining walls, high wall features or cantilever elements, etc.

Design package can start at around $480 to a few thousand depending on the size and complexity of the project. I also offer B2B packages for Architects and Builders who offer regular work.

If you like on-going or additional advice covering new areas or about design details or colour and material selections; I can easily accommodate these requests based on our regular Design & Consultation rate of $50/half hour.

Sumei is available to attend Pre-Start appointments with you for 3 to 4 hours to assist you in your selections. Additional time is based on the standard charge out rate. This service is prepaid with a $50 deposit to secure the booking.

Project Administration and Management is also available at our standard hourly rate of  $120 for the 1st hour and $50/half hr thereafter. By that we mean that we manage and administrate all the correspondances necessary to obtain competitive quotes and efficient implementation of the project. Typically , once the materials selections and the scope of work  has been finalised, we get design package ready for quotation. The obvious advantage of having the design package is the ability to source for the best quotes with various specialist tradesmen and builders. The obvious advantage of this systematic top-down Design approach is ending up with the best looking design but it can also help you save thousands of dollars by getting the most optimal quote in terms of cost and quality. If invited we could also can submit a quote for your consideration.
